OUR 2024 JUDGES
KORKY PAUL
Korky Paul was born in Zimbabwe and studied Fine Arts and Film Animation.
Among his many picture books is the multi-million selling Winnie the Witch series.
He is a patron of The Art Room, Pegasus Theatre, ARCh, Reading Quest and The Stratford Literary Festival. He lives and works in Oxford.
He is one of the two permanent judges for Young Art Oxford and has been on board since its inception in 2008.
DR SARAH SIMBLET
Dr Sarah Simblet is a fine artist and Professor of drawing at The Ruskin Art School in Oxford. She has written and illustrated four major art reference books including her latest The New Sylva. She exhibits widely and has work in many collections including The Ashmolean and Royal Academy.
Sarah has been one of the permanent judges for Young Art Oxford since it started.
JO ACTY
Jo is passionate about the good that art can do. She established the Oxford-based ArtWorks, which will shortly mark its 35th anniversary of bringing the study and celebration of art to young people aged 8-18. She also works in schools and different communities as an artist/teacher. Her own work explores the theme of liminal and transient places and their link with our emotional landscape. She has exhibited in Oxford, London, and Devon.
PROFESSOR JENNIFER SLIWKA
Prof. Jennifer Sliwka was recently appointed as Keeper of Western Art at the Ashmolean Museum. She is an art historian and curator and has published in a variety of academic journals and books. An expert in her field, she has also been a guest on BBC radios 3 and 4.
She has curated exhibitions at several galleries, including the National Gallery, and has previously taught at King's College, London University.
